Xray X4 Steering Link Setup by Alexander Hagberg

Alexander Hagberg recently posted on his Facebook page these great tips on how to correctly set up the steering on an Xray X4.  Here's what he had to say:

"​First of all - shimming between the servo saver/horn and steering link. The goal is to have the steering link sit in a completely straight angle across the chassis when the steering is at full lock to both L and R sides. As illustrated in the picture. It may vary between different servos/servo horns/savers. For my Sanwa PGS-LH II, I am using 3mm of shims to achieve this geometry.

The 2nd suggestion involves the length of the steering link itself. If you're like me, with mild OCD, you'll want the steering system to be completely symmetrical between L and R, also when it comes to the EPA settings on the transmitter. The goal is to have equal, or little difference between the EPA settings between L and R. This can be achieved by cutting the kit turnbuckle to a length of 18mm, and setting your steering link to a length of 37.5mm, as illustrated in the picture. This makes the servo horn/saver sit at a 50-60 degree angle towards the chassis, or "9-10 o'clock" better described."

I've been cutting my X4 steering link for a couple of years already and I'm surprised that Xray doesn't include a shorter link.  I take material off of the inner end of the link prior to attaching the short ball cup and it works well
